SEASON TICKETS AND TICKETS.COM SIGN
MULTI YEAR AGREEMENT TO OFFER ONLINE TICKET MANAGEMENT
SOLUTIONS TO TICKETS.COM'S CLIENTS INCLUDING MAJOR LEAGUE
BASEBALL TEAMS
Deal Opens New Markets for Season
Tickets, Broadens Tickets.com's Online Product Offerings
for Professional Sports and Arts and Entertainment Venues
Worldwide
CHICAGO - February 28, 2002 - Season Tickets today
announced it was named the exclusive third-party provider
of online Ticket Exchange, Ticket Management and Group
Ticket Window software and services to Tickets.com (Nasdaq:
TIXX). The three-year deal, which began January 18,
2002, encompasses all Tickets.com customers, including
Major League Baseball teams, and provides new market
opportunities for Season Tickets in the United States
and around the world.
The deal will allow Tickets.com to license, distribute
and promote Season Tickets' software and services to
Major League Baseball (MLB) teams through Major League
Baseball Advanced Media, the Interactive Media and Internet
Company of MLB. In addition, Tickets.com will promote
Season Tickets' software to performing arts clients
as a complement to its existing integrated online functionality,
which includes Tickets.com's Encore Ticket Exchange
Program. Together, Tickets.com's Encore and Season Tickets'
Ticket Exchange can now offer secondary market ticketing
to all of Major League Baseball's teams and Tickets.com's
clients, regardless of whether they have integrated
Access Control equipment at the venue.
"The San Francisco Giants, using our Double Play
technology, pioneered integrated electronic ticket exchange
two years ago, and proved that providing a safe and
reliable electronic marketplace of high quality tickets
to their fans - tickets that might otherwise have gone
unused - was an extremely valuable service," said
Andy Donkin, President, Internet Ticketing Group for
Tickets.com. "Our partnership with Season Tickets
now provides us with a complementary product offering
that extends our online secondary market and group ticketing
products to all of our MLB teams and performing arts
venues without necessarily requiring a capital investment
for back office technology development."
In addition to Major League Baseball Advanced Media,
Tickets.com will promote Season Tickets' Ticket Management
and Exchange software to its network of thousands of
entertainment organizations. This network includes performing
arts centers, professional sports organizations and
various stadiums and arenas in the United States, Canada,
Europe, Australia and Latin America.
As part of the partnership, Season Tickets will make
three software solutions available to Tickets.com's
customers, including:
- Open Ticket Exchange - Software that allows
select season ticket holders to resell unused tickets
on the team's website and transfer tickets between
the buyer and the seller. Teams can control access,
prices, eligible games and all other aspects of the
exchange.
- Season Ticket Management - Web-based software
that teams provide to corporate season ticket holders,
which allows their employees to request tickets and
ticket administrators to allocate or reserve tickets,
track usage and pre-order concessions.
- Group Ticketing - Web-based software that
allows group members to individually buy tickets online,
simplifying the administrative burdens on group organizers
and providing enhanced data to teams.
"Today's announcement is just another indicator
that Season Tickets is the dominant player in the secondary
ticket market space," said Robert McAuliff, Season
Tickets Chairman and CEO. "Hats off to Tickets.com
and MLB.com for recognizing the benefits that our product
offerings will provide to MLB fans. We are excited to
be working with Tickets.com to expand our reach and
open new markets for Season Tickets in the entertainment
industry, allowing us to offer ticket management and
exchange capabilities to theaters and concert venues
throughout the United States and the world. Season Tickets
looks forward to a long and prosperous relationship
with Tickets.com and MLB.com."
With Ticket Management and Ticket Exchange capabilities,
season ticket holders are able to capitalize on the
value of season tickets by tracking their tickets and
either using or selling them. Fans and corporations
benefit from a legitimate ticket source and more opportunities
to obtain premium seats. Teams benefit from additional
attendance-driven revenues such as parking fees, merchandise
and concessions. What's more, giving season ticket holders
an easy and legal way to sell unwanted tickets leads
to increased loyalty and improved season ticket renewal
rates.
